About Pajamas and Coffee

When asked to recount how our group came to be, one of our long time members put it as follows…

As I recall it, when Covid struck in 2020 and all the buildings and public places shut down, one of the members of the First Things First group, which met at the Cathedral of Learning in Pittsburgh, PA, got a zoom account and invited others from the in-person meeting to join online.

Word of mouth spread and very quickly the attendees worked to establish the zoom as its own meeting. We didn't know how long Covid would last or what our new reality would look like. The members met and the Group Conscious took action to register the meeting formally with the office in New York as well as with the Pittsburgh intergroup to get added to the meeting schedule for Pittsburgh. .

Members worked together through the Group Conscious to define commitments and fill the roles to help bring the in person meeting to an online format. Through our experience on zoom new commitments for safety were also created and filled.

Everything was done in the spirit of AA's responsibility statement: I am responsible. When anyone, anywhere, reaches out for help, I want the hand of AA always to be there. And for that, I am responsible.

The rest as they say, is history...
